Emotional Muscles: PLAYFULNESS

When you think of the word playfulness, what images come to your mind?  As we step out of childhood and mature, the emotion of “playfulness” can become a foreign concept to our nervous system.  However, it’s never too late to reclaim this emotion, and its ripple affect creates magic.

The dictionary definition of playfulness:

  • Full of fun and high spirits; frolicsome or sportive.
  • Humorous; jesting.
  • A disposition to find (or make) causes for amusement.
  • A festive merry feeling.
  • Activities that are enjoyable or amusing.

Whether you are in a business meeting, visiting with friends or working on a creative project, “playfulness” adds a fun, light, and new dimension.  Imagine yourself “playfully” engaging in conversation with the grocery store clerk, or “playfully” singing along to the music in your car.  How about a little “playfulness” in the bedroom with your partner?  How may your children, parents or co-workers respond to playfulness?

Playfulness creates motion and brings a smile.  One of my most successful clients brings in playfulness to business meetings when they get too serious, and it brings out the humanity in everyone. In a world where stress and anxiety is commonplace, a little “playfulness” may be the perfect medicine.  Adopt it for a week, and see what you experience.

Heya terrific blog! Does running a blog like this take a lot of work?
I’ve absolutely no knowledge of computer programming but I had been hoping to start my own blog in the near future. Anyway, if you have any ideas or techniques for new blog owners please share. I understand this is off subject however I simply had to ask. Many thanks!
